Product Review: Dr. Bronner's Organic Shaving Soap
I am so fortunate that Dr. Bronner's has provided me with a few of their products to try out on my leisure and review on the blog! I am not getting paid by them to write this post, nor do I receive any sort of commission for any sales. Now that that's out of the way, I really want to tell you how much I love this shaving soap!
I have several failed attempts on homemade non-toxic shaving cream. I was about to try a new recipe when Dr. Bronner's offered to send me a few products to test. I'm already familiar with most of their products, so when I went on their website and saw they had a shaving soap, you can imagine my excitement!
I was looking for a natural shaving cream because aside from the toxic ingredients in commercial shaving cream, my legs always felt extremely dry after shaving them. As soon as I would turn off the water and dry my legs, they would start to burn and I would have to frantically lather them with lotion so relieve the fire! Maybe this is just me?? I know Eric sometimes has a similar experience when shaving his face.
The first time I used the Dr. Bronner's shaving soap, my legs were not on fire after I got out of the shower. I was pretty shocked! After reading the label, I realized it it is mostly likely due to the fact that the first ingredient is organic sucrose. On the bottle it explains that sugar acts a natural humectant and literally pulls moisture back into the skin. My skin feels so smooth after using this gel, and Eric really likes it too!
Needless to say I am definitely giving this product two thumbs WAY up! It looks like it will be a while before I delve back into the search for a homemade shaving soap!
I've seen Dr. Bronner's Shave Soap for sale at Mother's Market and Whole Foods, and I'm sure many other health food stores carry it. If you cannot find it in store, you can always order it online here!
